LOS ANGELES (AFP) - George Hincapie, the US cyclist who broke his left wrist in the Tour of California last weekend, is unlikely to compete in the Paris-Roubaix race, Discovery Channel team manager Johan Bruyneel said.
Hincapie underwent surgery on Sunday to have a plate inserted in the wrist he injured during Saturday's sixth stage of the Tour of California."The surgery went well, straightforward and no complications," Bruyneel said. "Now we just have to wait and see how he recovers."
April's Paris-Roubaix, featuring cobblestones, is probably going to be too much too soon for Hincapie's recovery, Bruyneel said.
"We'll wait one week and see how it goes. He will be able to ride his bike pretty soon, but it's not very realistic to think about Paris-Roubaix," he said. "It's not just a Classic. It's the cobblestones. That's the issue."
